Today, we're sitting down with Kiko to talk about her highly anticipated new album, Hoe-Kage 2. Get ready to dive into the world of this trailblazing artist and explore the inspiration, creativity, and passion behind her latest project.

Q: Hey Kiko! How's life treating you? I heard whispers about you plotting a Japanese adventure earlier this year. Did you make it there, and if you did, how were the sushi and sightseeing? And spill the beans—have you hit any of your music milestones yet this year?

KIKO: Heyyyy, life has been great. I've been working on singles and building my team. I haven’t made it to Japan yet, but I definitely plan on it this year for my birthday. I’m super excited because I LOVE Korea and Japan. It is #1 on my list.

Q: I absolutely love bumping into fellow anime enthusiasts like you because I'm totally an anime aficionado too! If you could sprinkle a song onto your top anime pick, which show would get the musical magic, and what catchy title would you give it? And, of course, spill the beans on why!

KIKO: I would love to have a song on Nana. Ever since I was younger, the anime has always inspired me to get into music. I was always inspired by Nana moving to Tokyo to follow her dreams, basically what I did with moving from Baltimore to Atlanta. You just gotta take that chance, so if we ever got more seasons, I would love to have a song on there.

Q: As a woman navigating a male-dominated industry, you might have encountered specific challenges. How do you tackle obstacles and respond to criticism? What guidance would you offer to young women aspiring to enter the music industry?

KIKO: Whew, the industry is very male-dominated, but I’ve met a lot of female artists who genuinely love to work together because it’s such a male-dominated industry. I tackle obstacles by understanding it’s always just business, never personal. Any guidance I can give to young women aspiring to enter the music industry is to take control of your career. Never allow anyone to have too much control or say in what you want to do with your music. Criticism may not always be constructive, so stay true to yourself.

Q: What inspired your creative process for Hoe-Kage 2, and in what ways does it differ from your first Hoe-Kage Deluxe?

KIKO: Hoe-kage 2 was inspired more so by anime and finally releasing the songs I’ve been waiting for the right moment to drop. I’ve realized there’s no right moment, just drop it. Hoe-kage was more so me trying to show my versatility while also finding my true sound.

Q: One of my top jams on Hoe-Kage 2 was "Step On The Moon." Sailor Moon is my ultimate IT girl, and I've noticed your killer style vibes totally channel her energy. Are there any brands you'd love to team up with? Spill the tea on who and why! Your tunes are like an anime and video game mash-up masterpiece. How do these worlds light your creative fire, and are there any characters or storylines that really strike a chord with you?

KIKO: I would love to team up with brands like Hypland, Soular Brand, Crunchyroll, Sony, shoot, I even want to collab with Taco Bell one day. I genuinely just want to work with brands I love. The world is always so shocked when they see a bad bitch rapping about sliding like I’m in GTA lol, I love it. I love showing the world an introvert turned bad bitch. Like I said before, Nana really struck a chord with me. And Naruto because he basically raised me and taught me to never give up.

Q: What do you wish listeners would take away from your music? Also, do you have any final thoughts or words of wisdom to share?

KIKO: I genuinely want to inspire girls who never dreamed they could be 100% authentically themselves and still be THAT GIRL.
